Glass is a Blast

American Architectural Window and Door continues to be a proud sponsor of GlassRoots in Newark. Company President John Zoetjes and Mark Stevenson attended the first annual GlassBall and Benefit Blast on June 7th, held at the historic Hahne Building in Downtown Newark, NJ. The Benefit honored the late Jerry Gottesman, an icon in NY/NJ commercial real estate and the co-founder of Edison Properties. The event also featured a terrific silent auction, and of course, spotlighted some of its amazing students and their work.

Since its founding in 2001, GlassRoots has engaged tens of thousands of under-served youth and young adults in Greater Newark-area to ignite and build the creative and economic vitality of greater Newark. Programs focus on the transformative power of the glass art by teaching hands-on experience in chemistry, physics, and math as well as guiding young entrepreneurs to develop and market their products. Equally important, they are part of a vibrant community in which all learn from each other.

John Zoetjes, noted, “My company is honored to support such an important cause that is making a difference in people’s lives. GlassRoots recently earned a 2021 Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar, confirming the fact that our contribution is being put to good work”.
